2022 Benuara
Syrah 80%, Nero d'Avola 20%
Cusumano Benuara showcases the quality and character of Sicilian wines.
From day one, the philosophy behind Cusumano has been to emphasize the importance of terroir, investment in innovative technology, and above all, passion for winemaking.
With the help of an intimate knowledge of the Sicilian terrain and consultant winemaker Mario Ronco, the Cusumano wines are made with 100% estate grown fruit from 4 different territories throughout Sicily, many with grapes that are indigenous to Sicily such as Nero d’Avola. The Cusumano family is committed to creating wines that showcase these distinct regions, resulting in the brand becoming the #1 Sicilian wine in the US with 90+ ratings year after year. They were also among the first to adopt innovative glass stoppers, which are easy to open, re-usable and keep the wine fresh. Innovation and preservation of the land with the land has allowed Cusumano family to stay ahead of the curve and continue to produce wines that impress wine lovers around the world.
A vibrant and flavorful red wine. This blend features aromas of dark berries, plum, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it offers rich flavors of blackberry, cherry, and a touch of chocolate, with well-integrated tannins and a long, silky finish. The wine's complexity is enhanced by oak aging, which adds subtle notes of vanilla and cedar. Perfect for pairing with grilled meats, hearty stews, and aged cheeses. Will age for the next 5-7 years.
2022 Il Poggione Rose
100% Sangiovese
Led by father-son winemaking team of Fabrizio and Alessandro Bindocci, Il Poggione's guiding principle is to pay great care to the vines. They believe the secret to producing great wines lies in the high-quality vineyard work. Harvest is conducted entirely by hand. The wine is made in the traditional method, yet modern, state-of-the-art equipment is used to ensure proper control. Vinification process is guaranteed, thanks to the new cellar built in 2004 and the introduction of extremely advanced technology. But, tradition is important, the family keeps the large Allier French oak barrels for aging its wines. The winery is also committed to sustainable viticulture and 100% estate-grown, hand-selected fruit.
Il Poggione helped to establish the standards of excellence for Montalcino, Italy. The estate covers a surface area of 1,500 acres, of which 350 acres are planted to vine, 175 acres with olive groves and the rest are sowable land and woodland used for grazing and raising cattle and pigs to promote biodiversity and a natural approach to farming.
